Which, in turn, means that a lot of models won't work. I just spent an hour trying to export a character via EasyOgreExporter and OgreXMLTools. The model got exported, but it's extremely screwy. No way to use it without "Don't Export Bones With No Influence."
Is there no way we could get a MaxScript for Max>Bones? :- )
what is influence? :)
Dear AGP:
i think may be you can try the tutorial as follow to export the Skeleton Model which can be rendered by Bones:
http://www.jpct.net/wiki/index.php?title=Tutorial:_Creating_models_in_3dsMAX_and_Render_via_jPCT-Bones
cefengxu, there is no OgreMax for Max 2016 and OgreMax hasn't had a new version for 14 months. The developer won't reply to my e-mails. I think that it's safe to assume that it's dead in the water.
The EasyOgreExporter method works, but for the lack of the aforementioned setting. Even so, it's quite painful to go through so many different steps. Remove Bones With no Influence: "Indicates whether skeleton bones that influence no mesh vertices should be removed. If this setting is used in conjunction with objects attached to bones, be sure that the objects are attached to bones that influence at least one vertex." (http://www.ogremax.com/Documents/OgreMaxSceneExporter-3DSMax/object-settings-dialog-page-mesh-animation.html (http://www.ogremax.com/Documents/OgreMaxSceneExporter-3DSMax/object-settings-dialog-page-mesh-animation.html))
i think , just i think, may be your model is too complex to be covered by the bones.
you can use the 3ds max to observe whether the shin of model envelops the bones exactly.
or you can change the platform to using 3ds max. :)
cefengxu, I'm not talking about an isolated case. We need a solution for nearly every case. A lot of models need that setting (that's why it's included in OgreMax).
